Ólafur Arnalds releases Broadchurch Soundtrack

April 15, 2013

Mercury Classics has released the Official Soundtrack EP for ITV’s hit drama series “Broadchurch” which features the music of Icelandic composer and Mercury Classics artist Ólafur Arnalds. The release has gone straight into the Top 10 on the UK iTunes Soundtracks charts!

The UK TV series, starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman, follows the murder investigation of an 11 year old boy in the small coastal town of “Broadchurch” and has proven hugely popular in the UK with approximately 8 million viewers each week.

Commenting on the series, Radio Times’ Alison Graham highlighted “the terrific music that is so important in building Broadchurch’s chilly atmosphere and dark mood. Like the best music it’s unobtrusive and doesn’t tell you what you should be feeling.”

The soundtrack eloquently highlights the painful questions of the plot, culminating in the song “So Close”, sung by Arnór Dan of the Icelandic band Agent Fresco who features on Ólafur’s latest studio album For Now I Am Winter, also out on Mercury Classics.
